Cooperative Catalysis

Transition metals are an essential tool for the construction of new bonds and the assembly of organic molecules. However, scarce noble metals are still the workhorses of catalytic industrial processes. With the aim of providing new reactivity patterns, our group will study the reactivity in the interface of base metals and p-block elements with the goal of inducing nobility to abundant elements from the d-block.

Main group reactivity

Elements from the p-block have recently gained increasing attention due to their ability to mimic transition metal behaviour. They are highly abundant and readily available compared to noble metal catalysts, becoming an attractive alternative. Our group will study the organometallic chemistry of p-block elements with the goal of developing complementary reactivity to transition metal catalysis.
